CHSP Services

As we age, daily tasks can become harder, and a little help can make everyday life easier. The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is an entry‑level home support program, offering support to help you live more independently and safely at home. We’re here to assist you to maintain your independence together.

Where do I start

If daily tasks are becoming harder, it may be time to ask for support.

Help at home can support your safety, independence, wellbeing and social connection.

Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or apply online at www.myagedcare.gov.au.

Once registered, you will receive a My Aged Care Client ID. Write this number down and keep it handy for future calls and assessments.

Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or apply online at www.myagedcare.gov.au.

After you apply, you will be contacted to arrange an assessment. An assessor will talk with you about your needs, your daily routine and your safety at home.

This usually happens in your home. You can have a family member or trusted person with you if you wish.

You will receive a Notice of Decision.

If you are approved, you will also receive a support plan that explains the help you can receive.

Once approved, Services Australia assesses your contribution based on income, assets, pension status and services used (your home isn’t counted). You’ll get a fee advice letter and can request a review — call 1800 227 475 for help. Support may start quickly or wait for funding.
Once your funding is available, you can choose Huon Regional Care as your local provider for support at home.
We partner with you to create a support plan that suits your needs, goals and preferences.

We are here for you locally, and we will support you every step of the way.
